No hero? Stopping a war with near nuclear Iran covers a hell of a lot of sins, so much so, I can make a straight faced argument that in total he is net positive goodness, despite all his ugliness.

He's a pandemic hero, one of the few to speak up
People that do what in in their power to help free Julian Assange are doing something heroic. People that publicly expose unconstitutional misconduct by government officials are doing something heroic. Whatever Carson's faults, he's done some heroic things.
