It's not unfettered capital, it is just capitalism. The pursuit of profit will always birth exploitation. Under capitalism, capital dictates US society, hence why you're talking about child labor laws AGAIN.

They pushed for child labor laws because it was competition for union labor. Children were already coming out of the workforce due to the increased wealth produced through capitalism. They had previously gone from working on farms to working in factories.

Capitalism is always driven to crises by its internal conflicts, it demands skilled workers - needing children in education and training for a long time, while also demanding child labour to drive down wage prices. Such a system cannot survive, let alone make life better.
