I've skipped many meals or eaten cereal and PB&J just to afford my rent which is 50% of my net monthly pay and I do not live in luxury I can assure you of that.

The sad reality about poverty in the U.S. is that most Americans making the federal $7.25 minimum wage "make too much money to qualify for SNAP." With nearly 100 million Americans living at or near the poverty level, most women, we need a new war on poverty.
