There's a saying in AA about what happens when you grow "sick and tired of being sick and tired." You have to make a decision; your only two choices then are to spiral down, or to spiral up. It feels like the country is "sick and tired of being sick and tired" now, and people are spiraling down all over the place. What we need is a collective spiraling up, enough of us willing to say "No, we're not going down. We have decided not to. And we get that staying where we are is a form of spiraling down, just more slowly." We can choose to rise. We can commit to change, break with the past, cut the cord that has bound us to undue corporate influence on our government and on our lives, and start a season of repair. The only thing stopping us is the thought that it can't be done. #DisruptTheSystem Marianne2024.com

I stand corrected. “Sick and tired of being sick and tired” is actually a quote from Fannie Lou Hamer

Hi, I would love it if you could speak out about the revolution in Iran along with using the hashtags: #MahsaAmini and #IranRevolution. This would help a ton to keep this issue in the media spotlight especially coming from a U.S. presidential candidate.

It’s not the only thing that’s in our way. There’s our collective addiction to the most accessible powerful profitable fuel source on earth and our fondness for dominating others to maintain our control over the few remaining resources.

Except the part of the analogy that isnt mentioned is that you have to hot rock bottom first.

Just for clarification, the actual saying is there are only 3 options for the alcoholic who keeps drinking, it’s jails, institutions or death.
