When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, the largest guns they had were muskets. The modern bullet had not yet been invented. They could only shoot one bullet at a time. Today’s assault weapon would be like the power of a cannon to them. The Second Amendment is NOT a legitimate reason not to ban assault weapons. Ban them now.

@CommunityNotes false statement and context needed. “When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, the largest guns they had were muskets.” - false. Cannons & other crew served weapons, including multi-gunned warships, were in the private hands of the Founders. They also possessed rifles w/ superior range & accuracy to muskets.

This is an inaccurate statement. If you do not fully know a topic - it is wise to not speak authoritatively until you are truly informed. Look up: 1) Puckle gun 2) Ferguson Rifle 3) Girandoni 4) Repeating firearms long predate the 1606. As of 1791, repeating arms were available but expensive. 5) Cannons have been available since the 12th century

This may be one of the easiest things to know if you just read the Constitution ONCE! There is a right to own cannons! Thanks for illustrating your disdain for the very document that protects your right to spew nonsense.

I find it laughable that someone with so little knowledge of our constitution is running for president. But then again, I say this for pretty much every democrat

More Americans are killed by revolvers than “assault rifles”, so, nah.

It's more about the mentality (emotionality) of our politically poisoned & polarized population. The Swiss have far less problems. They are gun owners & have more regulations they enforce. Long foreseen & now inevitable: theyflyblog.com/2019/08/demi… Because: theyflyblog.com/2018/11/poli…

They could own a cannon. There were no limits on private weapon ownership. A private citizen could organize their own private army if they had the funds. Nothing has changed. Freedom is deadly.

If you actually cared about this topic you would start with getting illegal guns out of the hands of gang members who kill children at an alarming rate. Yet here we are.
