When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, the largest guns they had were muskets. The modern bullet had not yet been invented. They could only shoot one bullet at a time. Today’s assault weapon would be like the power of a cannon to them. The Second Amendment is NOT a legitimate reason not to ban assault weapons. Ban them now.

The .75 caliber bullets fired by a colonial rifled musket, roughly 10x the size and weight of the 60gr .223 fired by the AR. The first repeating arms were built in the 1500's so obviously you fail on that point as well. The court in the Miller case also set the precedent that the 2nd Amendment specifically protect bearable arms that could conceivably be used by the Military or Militia when called. As for colonial era arms, one of the major advantages we had over the British was the superior accuracy of our Rifled muskets that could place an aimed shot to a man's torso at 300 yards or more accurately about six times the distance for the British "Brown Bess" to fire a comparably accurate aimed shot. They absolutely understood that weapons tech was rapidly advancing and understood we needed our arms to be able to shoot more accurately at greater distances than the Enemy could even toss unaimed volley fire on our troops. Your education on this subject is sorely lacking. You should spend a lot more time reading and asking intelligent questions and a lot less making statements of fact that have no actual basis in fact.

She watched the musical '1776.' Now she's an expert on the subject. A metaphor for the entire gun-ban crowd.

Only the government should own guns.
