When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, the largest guns they had were muskets. The modern bullet had not yet been invented. They could only shoot one bullet at a time. Today’s assault weapon would be like the power of a cannon to them. The Second Amendment is NOT a legitimate reason not to ban assault weapons. Ban them now.

Marianne; banning “scary looking guns” will have no impact on gun homicides. Those with intent to murder will do so with handguns and pistols that can fire multiple rounds. We did this before with to impact. Try harder please.

How about Governments set the example by giving up their assault weapons first?

Those men had just fought a war with those muskets. I'm sure they wished they could pull the trigger and fire multiple rounds without reloading. No doubt in my mind that they yearned for the semi and full automatic weapons we have.

Actually, the language is not specific to which arms because they, unlike you, knew that weapons would advance. They also knew, that at some point, the government would turn on its people. You have turned on the country.

It is about mental health, not guns

Who are you? You don't know the first thing about the 2A. Your WHITE privilege is showing! 🤣

Modern ‚assault weapons‘ only shoot one bullet at a time. You may want to go back to serving coffee at your metaphysical bookstore.

Your version of history is incorrect

And when the Founders wrote the First amendment the only press was the printing press. By your logic, the web and the whole internet should be banned. NOW.

The government didn't have F 16s, nor aircraft carriers, bombers, cars, trucks, indoor plumbing, refrigerators, highways, trains, just to name a few. Women didn't have the right to vote. When you need the police,(which I hope you never do), they will have guns.
