When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, the largest guns they had were muskets. The modern bullet had not yet been invented. They could only shoot one bullet at a time. Today’s assault weapon would be like the power of a cannon to them. The Second Amendment is NOT a legitimate reason not to ban assault weapons. Ban them now.

When the Founders wrote the First Amendment, the largest means they had to share information were printing presses. The internet had not yet been invented. They could only print one page at a time. Today’s assault internet would be like the power of a billion printing presses to them. The First Amendment is NOT a legitimate reason not to ban the internet. Ban it now.

They could literally own ships with cannons.

The truth is “assault weapon” is a subjective term that doesn’t practically define a class of weapons with sufficient particularity to meaningfully effect a ban—as the measured impacts of the last ban demonstrate The law—if enacted—won’t work as intended findlaw.com/legalblogs/law-a…

They had cannons. But no 19th Amendment. I'd make that trade.

Tired old argument. Do some research if you are going to try to channel their intentions.

I will take "Who used cannons in 1776" for $100, Alex.

When they wrote the 1st Amendment, the largest printing press had limited distribution. The modern social media account can access the globe in seconds. They had competitors, not 3 mega tech corporations limiting voices at the government's (cough CIA's or one party) request. Today's social media is like the power of an authoritarian king dictating what the people can and can not read. If the lockdowns tough us anything, its that we need the 1st and 2nd amendment now more than ever.
