When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, the largest guns they had were muskets. The modern bullet had not yet been invented. They could only shoot one bullet at a time. Today’s assault weapon would be like the power of a cannon to them. The Second Amendment is NOT a legitimate reason not to ban assault weapons. Ban them now.

The technology argument is weak. Repeating arms already existed. If you are going to make the tech argument, then it applies to the first amendment too. TV, radios, computers, the automated printing press, the internet, and cell phones among others. So, no free press on those, freedom of religion on those, no free speech on those, and no ability to use them from freely and peacefully assemble using those devices. The technology argument is a nonstarter
