When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, the largest guns they had were muskets. The modern bullet had not yet been invented. They could only shoot one bullet at a time. Today’s assault weapon would be like the power of a cannon to them. The Second Amendment is NOT a legitimate reason not to ban assault weapons. Ban them now.

The modern bullet is made out of the same material as the musket ball - lead. We still can only shoot one bullet at a time. We can just shoot the second bullet faster. Today's assault weapon is NOT equivalent in power to a canon. #ShallNotBeInfringed

"When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, the largest guns they had were muskets." - Wrong! I have shown this to be false numerous times. "The modern bullet had not yet been invented." - Wrong! Repeater rifles had already begun using the concept for the modern bullet. "They could only shoot one bullet at a time." - Wrong! Automatic repeater rifles were already in use. BTW- The AR-15 style weapons only fire 1 bullet at a time. 1 trigger Pull = 1 Shoot. "Today’s assault weapon would be like the power of a cannon to them." - Interesting that you prove our point right here. The right to bear arms when the founders wrote the 2nd Amendment included the right to own cannons. As a matter of fact, Cannons were very popular at that time as they were used on ships to fight off pirates / privateers, or by Privateers fighting the British. Let's ban people that want to rewrite our constitution and remove our God given rights from voting!! They are a danger to this country!!

Literally everything in your tweet is a lie. Oh, and people could, and still can, own cannons.

The founders yelled “tweets” from a soapbox too.

Using your login, the. You should get off of all media and just campaign by printing fliers in your basement and pass them out at the corner while standing on a literal soapbox…… Because, according to you, the 1st amendment only applies to paper presses and yelling at the corner at people…

Arms in common use cannot be banned. 20 million AR15s and who knows how many AKs, along with hundreds of millions, possibly billions of magazines, trillions of rounds of ammo clearly falls squarely in common use. BTW the most popular rifle in the world is the AK47. Estimated that there is 1 for every 9 people on earth. Most of those rifles exist outside the US. Maybe instead of vomiting words on twitter as a means to prop up a floundering campaign against a man who is literally a brain dead old man, you could take some time to educate yourself on our constitutional government if you ever hope to have a chance at holding the reigns of power.

You do realize that the Founders wrote the Second Amendment so that citizens could form a militia against government tyranny? In other words, so that citizens could fight a revolution if necessary. How would we do that with muskets? Law-abiding citizens need high-capacity long guns at a minimum. You geniuses should think through your arguments and make sure that they are sound before bloviating anti-Bill of Rights propaganda.

Belton flintlock manufacturer would beg to differ with you, Marianne. "Joseph Belton, the firearm’s designer, claimed it could fire eight rounds in three seconds" (And, repeaters were around for a century before the Revolutionary War)

The 2A wasn't written to 'allow' you to own guns. It, along with the rest of the Constitution, was written and ratified for the sole purpose of restricting the power of the government and to protect the People from the government.
