One-third of American workers live on less than $15 an hour. This is the economic reality a political elite seeks to obscure, so they can get away with not raising the minimum wage, not providing universal health care, and not guaranteeing a livable wage. The more we face the actual reality, the greater the chance that enough of us will rise up and do what it takes to change it.
Filipino caregivers in LA live in shocking poverty. Exploited by agencies who take 40% of their pay, they make less than minimum wage. By ⁦@LATstevelopezlatimes.com/california/story…

Bitcoin. The US monetary system based on inflation creates the massive wealth gap. The only way to address is to transition to a currency which can’t be manipulated. What good is a wage increase if the purchasing power of the money decreases at a rate that is far faster?

64% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, even those earning more than minimum wage. Mere wage legislation is inadequate after half a century of stagnation. We need UBI for the employed & unemployed alike.

Thanks @marwilliamson. 🙂 I don't believe a job's purpose should be a refuge from poverty. Rather, I believe in just abolishing poverty, so let's allow a #UBI to set our floor above poverty. Then, a living minimum wage would enable thriving, instead of mere survival, instead.

Just another statistic that so many people are drowning in debt within this country. The educational system needs to be further funded, so youth understands the repressions of these decisions. youtube.com/watch?v=diFarEGv…

How many of those workers are in high school? College? Young people without job experience? People don't start out making a 6-figure income. You work, gain experience and earn it. Meanwhile, if U want an apartment, get a roommate. Other generations did it. Today's youth can too

You increase the wage, you increase the prices. Rates always stay the same. Why do you think candy bars went from 35 cents in the 90s and 2000s and now they are 1.25? Does that have anything to do with increasing the wages? I would say so.
