One-third of American workers live on less than $15 an hour. This is the economic reality a political elite seeks to obscure, so they can get away with not raising the minimum wage, not providing universal health care, and not guaranteeing a livable wage. The more we face the actual reality, the greater the chance that enough of us will rise up and do what it takes to change it.
Filipino caregivers in LA live in shocking poverty. Exploited by agencies who take 40% of their pay, they make less than minimum wage. By ⁦@LATstevelopezlatimes.com/california/story…

The more income goes up, the higher the cost of goods. If you get a raise, I’m going to raise the rent, and raise the price of milk and bread. AND YOU’RE GOING TO PAY!!!

Did you pull that first statement out of a hat?

And at only $15/hour, try to hold a studio apartment at $2000/month rent. Problem... "the Middle Class" says "then have 2 or 3 people share that studio apartment with $15/hour income each." Let's "deport" low income people... but it just strips the retail stores of revenue.

How can this be happening in such a progressive state like California. Surely the compassionate democrats with a super-majority legislature and Democrat Gov would "do something" about this. Perhaps once the Gov runs for Pres, then he can implement all the right things.

I’ve been in homes where - THE WORKERS ARE UNDOCUMENTED - and paid - LESS THAN MIMINUM WAGE - It’s a wink-and-nod system - much like farm labor - in which - CHEAP LABOR - is prized over any other consideration!

When “they say” @marwilliamson is not serious - ask yourself why - when corporate political donors benefit from the exploitation of others - then the exploitation is masked behind “rosy economic numbers” that aren’t revealing the whole truth. #disruptthesystem #BigTruth

Artificially inflating wages to $15+ causes a rise in prices that disproportionately affects the people in the wage range you’re trying to help.

Yes, illegals living here illegally and being paid illegally don’t make an illegal “living wage”. Why? Because they are illegal.
