The cops originally claimed they were "ambushed" in the forest. Then they claimed that they gave orders to Tort and they were ignored. Now their story has changed yet again; admitting they shot at Tort first. Autopsy shows Tort was seated with hands up. theguardian.com/us-news/2023…

In Chapter 3, Marianne recalls an Easter lunch during which she brought up the recent murder of a black father by police officers. She was shut down by a friend because he "supports law enforcement." "Murder is murder," I exclaimed, "no matter who is doing it!"
