Yes honestly I have comprehension issues from the damage done in the public school I went to, with my autism I tend to have a ‘slow’ processing speed (which arguably is actually faster than others but I tend to think on a deeper level than most people so it can come off like I’m slow) but basically they noticed that I read slow and put me in a special class that pressured me with social embarrassment to learn to read words fast but not comprehend them so it formed a bad reading habit for the rest of my life that I’m still trying to fix. Now I often read without comprehending, especially if it’s public reading.
