An Iowa child labor bill proposes kids as young as 14 could work in slaughterhouses, mining, meatpacking, demolition, etc., under supervised "work-based learning" programs — and it removes civil liabilities from those companies if kids are injured or die. desmoinesregister.com/story/…

What do you think my Catholic, German farm ancestors were doing when they had such large families instead of owning slaves? Knowing only one of their sons was to inherit the farm, the rest would have to move on to find his own way when no more land was free to take?
