The newest target of the extremist authoritarian movement in this country is CHILD LABOR LAWS! First Arkansas, now Iowa. Things are moving in the wrong direction. We need to turn this around. #ANewBeginning
An Iowa child labor bill proposes kids as young as 14 could work in slaughterhouses, mining, meatpacking, demolition, etc., under supervised "work-based learning" programs — and it removes civil liabilities from those companies if kids are injured or die. desmoinesregister.com/story/…

What's wrong with kids working if they want a job and have a safe environment? I had my own lawn business when I was 11. There have been rulers of nations not much older than that. Who are you to tell someone they can't work if they want to? Sounds pretty authoritarian to me.

In a world where we let kids decide on life changing medical procedures, extending that decision to working and contributing to the economy is just one step too far.

Let me make sure I'm reading your post correctly: You're claiming the repeal of labor prohibitions is being done by members of an "extremist authoritarian movement"?

In precisely 48 months, ALL POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS will ask them, “What can you DO? What experience do you have?” They’ll have YOU to thank. But if you’re comfortable with prohibiting young adults from gaining knowledge, independence, and income…

I had a job working for Arby's when I was 14. Was allowed to work 14 hours a week. It taught me a lot! Also gave me money buy my own stuff. Teaching kids to work for what they want isn't a bad lesson.
