Pushing back a neo-fascist authoritarian threat is absolutely the primary challenge of our time. But we won’t be able to do that unless we’re willing to analyze how we became so vulnerable to it to begin with. Yes, there is a malignant narcissist who had a lot to do with it. Plus, social media as well. But there was something more, something even more insidious that weakened our democracy and left us open to the threat. FDR said we wouldn’t have to worry about a fascist takeover “as long as democracy delivered on its blessings.” And that is where we’ve failed. The fact that people do not have healthcare, do not have a livable wage, cannot go to college or send their kids to college, do not get help with child care, feel so little economic wind at their back…those speak to the the “blessings of democracy” that our system has failed to deliver. And that is what has weakened our societal immune system. Providing such things now, like a massive infusion of hope and opportunity, is the boost to our immune system without which we will have a very hard time keeping the disease at bay. Too late for vitamins. We need a quick IV.

Are corporate profits inadvertently funding government and municipal pensions?🧐

I voted for the antiwar George McGovern in ‘72 and haven’t voted for either party’s presidential candidate since then. I voted for Bernie in the Ohio primary, but he turned out to be a sheepherder for the DNC. Both corporate parties are corrupt to their core.

Socialism is NOT democracy.

FDR also said that fascism is privately owned government (so did Mussolini). This quotation describes Joe Biden to a tee.

Run for office—but not the presidency! There may be some office you could actually win. (But then you’d have to spend all your time on the day-to-day job of governance, which probably isn’t for you.) If what you want is a platform to share your ideas, you have many other options.

Given that you support fascists in Ukraine, it's pretty hard to take anything you say on this issue seriously.

I’m not clear which neo fascist authoritarian threat you’re talking about?

I continue to get the impression that Marianne is not aware of the scary neo-fascism at the heart of corrupt neoliberalism & the shadow government (of which Trump is a pale reflexion & a bump in its onward progression). Maybe a residual talismanic effect of the word "Democrat"?

How do you propose to pay for all of this?
