I cannot even imagine what it would be like to be in your Twenties and carry tens of thousands of dollars of college loan debt. And we wonder where the mental health crisis comes from? Economic anxiety is a pit of despair. Every American should realize that college and public universities were tuition free up until the mid-1960s. Unfettered capitalism is ravenous in its search for a profit center, even if it emerges from or causes human suffering. How dare we tell young people they should have respect for capitalism when they. have. no. capital! None of this will change until we change it. #ANewBeginning

Don’t sign the loan agreement if you can’t pay it back.

Go find yourself a non capitalist country and live there. Go to college there, be better off there and leave the rest of us to capitalism the way it is intended to work.

If that’s the case, I want a refund for my emotional distress as we sacrificed to pay for our 3 children’s college tuition. We never expected a handout and instilled the value of hard work. Tell colleges to reduce their tuition!

A 2017 study from the Fed of New York found that the average tuition increase associated with expansion of student loans is as much as 60 cents per $. ….more federal aid to students enables colleges to raise tuition more. Salaries rise; bureaucracies expand;

Every generation has carried that debt from college. That is a personal financial decision. I bore it. I lived in shit apartments and ate kraft mac & cheese. It paid off in the long run. Now I’m expected to pay for the younger generation’s too? Stop whining and honor your debt.

I have very mixed feelings about this. I’m not against some student loan forgiveness but my 3 kids went to community college for the 1st 2 years to minimize their debt. They would have preferred going away to a 4yr university but it wasn’t economically feasible. 1/

Ban government student loans. Higher education is clearly not churning out productive and educated people. So defund it. Get on it, Marianne.
