Hyper capitalism has been weaponized against the people of the United States. An economic system exists to serve the people; people shouldn’t live their lives in service to an economic system. Gotta fix that. cnn.com/2023/02/24/opinions/…

Aren't you a book seller? Who is your publisher? Is that not capitalism?

That’s exactly the point. Book publishing is an industry where all stakeholders win: author, publisher, and reader. All invest energy, and all walk away with value. That is righteous profit. Even Adam Smith, the primary architect of free market capitalism, said it cannot exist outside an ethical context. But hyper capitalism, or crony capitalism, is not that. It is a power and money grab by owners and stockholders at the expense of workers. It is not righteous. It is oppressive and tyrannous. It is corrosive of people’s lives and of our democracy. It is the core principle of this economic era, and that era needs to end.

You do know that book publishers deliberately make books that fall apart or are impossible to repair, and have been struggling with libraries over digital rights management. There is no industry producing for profit not perpetuating waste and anti-social behavior.

Adam Smith was not the “primary architect of free market capitalism”. He was the observer and explainer of how individual choice works to the mutual benefit of all. Free market capitalism does need any architect. That is the point.
Crony capitalism is inherent to capitalism? It is the only possible result of the class contradictions between workers and employers. You’re just discussing an advanced version of the only possible outcome.

LMAOOOOOO “righteous profit??” How do the books actually get produced? Who transports them to market or to the end user?? Who sells them for you??? Are those people not being exploited? You are a virtue signaling liberal living in delusion
The Win/Win/Win formula! That’s conscious and humanity + business!
Capitalism is supreme at generating wealth by utilizing avarice. It is up to the government to provide a check on that unbridled greed. The problem is that the greed tends to corrode any mechanism designed to keep it contained. We solve that problem, we good.

Tell that to students who pay for yearly new editions of textbooks where often the only change is pagination. This is strictly to prevent them from following assignments with an older edition. Righteous my butt.
