We made fun of the Republicans for voting however many times in order to elect McCarthy their House leader, but it's as worrisome to me that the Democrats hardly had an election at all. It was just, "Nancy says it's Hakeem, so...." See a pattern here?

Yes! The Republicans, as awful and totally flawed as they are - they let their competitions play out. Awkwardly, dangerously, maybe even, the process has so many issues the only thing worse would be what the Dems do.

I think this is very oversimplified. Dems had talks and they agreed before going public. This is honestly how it should be done. Unity is important
