Trickle down economics has been a disaster for this country. It has completely destroyed America’s middle class. Democrats won’t win on the message that we can help people survive the disaster. We will win by saying we’re going to end it. Universal healthcare, tuition-free state colleges and universities, a guaranteed living wage, free childcare, paid maternity & paternity leave & guaranteed sick pay - like in every other advanced democracy! - will begin to right the ship.

The top 1% pay 42.3% of all income taxes. How much more would you like them to pay? Do you think the most innovative people will stay in a place where they are not rewarded for their work? Why would they do that?

Who was the economy good for in those days?

people advocating theft deserve to be mocked and shamed at the very least. they have as little honor as the thieves themselves and know your money goes into their pockets, which is why they just want more theft.
In the 50s, 60s and 70s, there were more tax exemptions then than there are now. The peak effective tax rate in the 50s and 60s was about 42% of income. taxfoundation.org/taxes-on-t…

The 50s, 60s, and 70s were followed by the 80s and Ronald Reagan, who slashed the hell out of the tax rate, particularly the top marginal tax rate, and brought in MORE tax revenue as a result. The highest tax rate and the rate that brings in the most money are not the same.

Guess we'll just blow up all the industrialized world in a world war, so only America can produce again. Interesting you leave that part out.
The problem with this thread is this is an "argument" about 2 different environments. ¹ 50's 60's & 70's environment = "industrial" capitalism, superior economic growth ... FOR ALL ² The argument "against" = "financial" capitalism, questionable growth ... for the few ... Elites
