Trickle down economics has been a disaster for this country. It has completely destroyed America’s middle class. Democrats won’t win on the message that we can help people survive the disaster. We will win by saying we’re going to end it. Universal healthcare, tuition-free state colleges and universities, a guaranteed living wage, free childcare, paid maternity & paternity leave & guaranteed sick pay - like in every other advanced democracy! - will begin to right the ship.

Just because the rich get richer, does that mean the poor get poorer? Can’t we all keep getting richer if they can print as much money as they want? Money is only worth what it can buy…

No righteous person wants to think their ability to create wealth is at the expense of other people getting a chance to. Yet that’s what has happened. You’re right that there is nothing wrong with making money! But there is something wrong with squeezing everything from those who do not have, in order for those who already have to have even more.

It’s funny but investment businesses &returns for their shareholders are what drives the businesses. Elon Musk famously runs his businesses as a mission to accomplish things. When you invest with him you have to accept that. As an investor in Musk’s companies I worry about that.

You are deliberately twisting things around. What you want to do is squeeze every penny from those who work and give it to those who don't work. That's wrong. Everyone needs to work and earn their own way as long as they are able.

Unfortunately… just a lie… nobody gets wealth at the “expense” of others. When you bought a car or food, nobody abused you. Start a business and use the system or get out. Make room for people that don’t expect a free lunch.

Marianne have you ever read the writings of Henry George? If not, I think you will find many valuable connections with your viewpoint.

There is nothing wrong with making money, but our current business environment is doing at the expense of our infrastructure, labor and communities. (see Southwest, Norfolk Southern, Amazon, etc.)

And they continue to squeeze- now using AI to get rid of paying more employees. How will we address millions of people losing their jobs to AI?
And yet I believe what she’s saying and obviously implying is that most if not all first world countries around the world have these social benefits. Denmark, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, most of Europe. And if they pay more taxes, how can they be richer, smarter and healthier?
