What happened in East Palestine, Ohio is a feature - not a bug - of unfettered, unregulated corporate power. Obama tried to regulate more hazardous material on trains, then ended up caving to railroad industry pressure. Union workers warned about faulty brakes and other safety measures, and the same railroad executives who denied them sick pay ignored their voices. This isn’t about just one incident; it’s about the dictatorial and deadly power of corporations that put their short term profits before the safety, health, and well-being of people and planet. The corrupt system that protects them, We the People need to disrupt.

It goes a little deeper than just capitalism though, no? Did you not type this message out on an electronic device that was made in China by slave labor? Greed is inherent in humanity - not any particular political or economical system.

We don't have an unregulated system. We have regulators unwilling or unable to do their jobs. I have been reading that the train company didn't even follow regulations in place for transporting hazardous materials. This is a problem of hiring unqualified people to be in charge.

Obama didn't "cave"--Trump took a sledgehammer to his legislation

Obama was a complete capitulator to every corporation every time. Thanks for drawing attention to this tragedy.

You forgot the part about a democratic congress legislating away railroad workers right to strike. Neither party represents the people.
