What happened in East Palestine, Ohio is a feature - not a bug - of unfettered, unregulated corporate power. Obama tried to regulate more hazardous material on trains, then ended up caving to railroad industry pressure. Union workers warned about faulty brakes and other safety measures, and the same railroad executives who denied them sick pay ignored their voices. This isn’t about just one incident; it’s about the dictatorial and deadly power of corporations that put their short term profits before the safety, health, and well-being of people and planet. The corrupt system that protects them, We the People need to disrupt.

Most hazardous materials are used to manufacture products we don't really need. It's more important to stop manufacturing these products than it is to fix brakes.

Ya might want to wait for the NTSB report. No one wanted this to happen. Who ordered the ignition of the chemicals?

Yeah. The U.S. taxpayer will have to pay for the long term clean up & probably have to pay for the improved safety measures.

Obama caved, that’s the problem. They all end up being corporate shills.

Why hasn't this administration taken any action to fix the problem that the clown Obama failed to solve despite being in office more than 24 months ago? In fact, the problem lies in this administration and the death of "civil society" in the US. A tribal-minded society is doomed.
Protecting our water supply is the EPA's job. But they're more concerned about "environmental racism" to care about any of this.

Another day of Marianne complaining about capitalism but being afraid to say capitalism.
