Ramp down to what ? Wind turbines create more waste in their manufacture than energy produced. Solar panels only work well in sunny locations. Lithium mining is equally or more harmful than oil and there is not enough for sustainability. Not enough wood to burn to keep warm.

Unless alternatives other then “electric” (oil/coal), we won’t. The staunch opposition from environmentalists for nuclear is the most asinine thing ever. Don’t even get me started on the current battery technology and the ethical and logistical nightmare that is.

No such thing as a “fossil fuel”. The term was created by Rockefeller to scare monger (there’s the rich people feeding us fear again) and make out like oil is limited. Oil is being constantly produced by the Earth’s core. Great resource that has virtually created our modern world
