But without them the state will be unable to maintain control of their citizens. Seeing what the state did to its citizens in Canada last year, it should be clear of the direction of where things are heading.

Everything about this country, especially the gov and our laws, is completely out of control and separate from "the people". It's under the control of the wealthy & powerful and worst of all politics. Rampant greed and ego, totally out of control.
