After inflation, people making $7.25 minimum wage are earning less now than they were 60 yrs ago. The minimum wage hasn't been raised in 13 yrs, the longest gap govt. has gone without upping it since it the system was introduced in 1938. That's basically a war on the poor.

60 years ago inflation had a different definition. Then, at least we knew it had nothing to do with business or consumer greed. Inflation was defined as the central bank (the FED) adding to the money supply faster than the increase in societal wealth. (Wealth is stuff, not money)

The "war" on the poor is an outdated education system that doesn't teach them how money printing and rampant govt spending is what causes inflation and keeps them poor. You can raise min wage year after year. It won't matter. They'll stay poor. And more will join their ranks.

Good lord, please at least skim a few pages of any decent economics book before chiming in with pablum like this. Happy to recommend one if you like.

This is not surprising. The Peoples’ House hasn’t expanded in over 100 years while in that same time the population has tripled. A tiny House grossly favors the ultra-rich & corporations that vote with campaign cash & pay stupid low taxes. We’re sliding backwards. #UnCapTheHouse!

The war is on the American people collectively, the poor just notice it first. Endless wars started driving women away from home to make money after the wage earner was killed or maimed, diluting the workforce. Now both parents work and the education system raises the children.

Why won’t they raise it?

UBI indexed to inflation is a better answer than minimum wage laws.
