In the history of policing in the US, the "system" has never functioned without corruption. It's a system that can't be reformed.

Fact of the matter is, policing works exactly as the overriding system in this country wants it to. You and I may not want police to do what they do, but the police serve to protect the owning class from the masses.

On one hand, there's some truth to what you're saying. But we can't just stop there, then descend into cynicism and nihilism. We have to wage the political revolution that changes it!
