Democracy. The situation I described above is a plutocracy, not a democracy. So yes, the "better system" is a representative democracy no longer undercut by the undue influence of corporate and billionaire money.

You must mean People’s Democracy, as in China. Western politics is too censoring that one cant even critically analyze what are better in another system. Liberal democracy is fundamentally flawed. Always lead to the situation where interests of capital dictate
As history shows, representative democracy is easier said than done. The worst parts of human nature always seem to find a way to creep in and corrupt its purity. Libertarians might say that representitives are the problem. But at scale, it's impossible not to delegate decision.
