The US should stop this travesty and drop the charges against Assange. The punishment he has already received is draconian, meant as a dire warning to journalists to not go pokin’ around now ya’all.
Editors and publishers of the five media organizations who partnered with Julian Assange on #Cablegate, published 12 years ago - The New York Times, The Guardian, Le Monde, El País and Der Spiegel - call for his release #FreeAssangeNOW nytco.com/press/an-open-lett…

Seems to me if Assange is going to be charged in the USA under the Espionage Act, then so should a host of reporters with the New York Times, Washington Post and others. The only real difference is the NYT and WAPO generally carry water for the Feds

He's not a journalist and he didn't go poking around. He was a sink for leakers and a fountain on the other end. But that became necessary when governments betrayed the people.

Just a reminder- Assange allegedly aided and abetted Bradley Edward Manning (now Chelsea) in unlawfully obtaining and disclosing classified documents

Congress and the president need to get control of the administrative state. It is out of control and wreaking havoc all around earth.

The Obama Admin. refrained from indicting Assange, saying that they would have had to indict journalists from 5 major news outlets too. Under Trump the position changed. The DOJ relied on an old law, the Espionage Act of 1917 which has never been used to prosecute a publisher!
