The last period in American history not considered wartime was 1961. It lasted 6 years. We must bring the MIC to heel. We already far surpass every other nation. If we don't divert funds soon, it will be problems at home that will defeat us - not imagined threats far from home.

We spend about 14% of the total US budget on defense. You are only comparing it to discretionary spending leaving out the vast majority of spending which goes for in part to Medicare, Medicaid and Social security
