After World War 2, the US decided to remake Japan's culture so that they would never wage war against us again. 77 years later, we are still there. Remaking an entire culture and country is something that takes generations, not a couple of decades.

You cannot control the country with a hostile population. Unless you do it Russian way: mass killings, rapes, tortures and moving 1000s of hostile civilians to different part of your country whilst replacing them with your own Russian people (settlers)

The United States should take a look in the mirror and start supporting “actual democracy” for itself first. Afghans will self-determine and they sure as heck do not need pity. This savior complex, especially when the US is drowning in its own hypocrisy, is old and boring.
