When a politician supports a humanitarian policy now, they feel the need to justify the move in economic terms. How about “We need to feed hungry children because it’s the right thing to do”? The people who should feel the need to justify themselves are those who would say no.

This week, I introduced a new bill to help more kids get no-cost meals at school without bombarding their families with paperwork. This will not only strengthen our workforce of tomorrow by improving student achievement, attendance, and behavior; it will save schools money.

Feeding children who otherwise would go without food is not only the humanitarian thing to do, but an investment in their future, which is of enormous benefit to America at large!

Because "it's the right thing to do" unfortunately has not moved the needle in the US. As a kid that was food insecure growing up I can tell you I've directly heard teachers and parents call "free lunch" a waste of tax dollars. They need an economic reason as justification.

Food is important for children, especially those who are deprived of it… Yet if we don’t protect our school children from getting shot via our terror war blowback… there’s no need to eat… first things first! get those teachers kevlar & AKs, children too! USA!USA!USA!
