Wearing people down is the primary tool by which a corporate ruling class effectively quiets what would otherwise be a healthy rebellion against it.

It might not be conscious but it’s absolutely intentional in the design – if they’re too busy working only to barely make ends meet, so they have to work more to try to get ahead and are consistently burned out, they won’t have energy to fight for fundamental and systemic change.
