🧵Clifford Farrar, a 51-year-old diabetic in WA state prison, repeatedly asked for insulin pump supplies. The prison declined, saying he had to pay. "I don't have the funds," he wrote in a grievance. 24 days later, he collapsed w/ low blood sugar + died theguardian.com/us-news/2022…

As someone who uses a T-1 pump, and has to pay $300+ for pump supplies every month (with insurance!), and has seen cops and even EMTs clueless on how to deal with diabetics, this is extra scary because it's true. thanks for your reporting @SamTLevin
