I don't understand what that means half of our country hates each other how exactly is this going to fix that. as much as I love President John f Kennedy his words are not proper for the situation. we need someone better than Abraham Lincoln to fix this country

Couldn't agree with you more. JFK's dictum is true internationally. Unfortunately, it is the US that has been making things difficult for many 3rd world countries to wage even a peaceful revolution, including Pakistan (a nuclear-power) and Iran (accused of wanting to become one).

For context, to some degree, JFK meant to free countries from British/French colonialism into the waiting arms of American neocolonalism. Use debt instead of arms to keep them in line.
