Calling neoliberalism a cult is the kind of truth telling I admire. Increased corporate profits shouldn’t be our governing principle in a free society. If anything it guarantees that many will never be free. Humanitarian values & democracy should be the ground on which we stand
Truss and Kwarteng are members of a cult, a cult called neoliberalism. When it began, in the 1930s, it was considered crazy and irrelevant. But it was backed by some of the world's richest people, and championed by the billionaire media until it became the water in which we swim.

why do people care more about democracy than the Constitution about people's ability to vote. then the Constitution being the rule of law. it seems like you push a direct democracy and those have been failures in the past.

And neoliberalism is not only about the policies (austerity, deregulation) and principles (individualism, mere growth). It is about calling "values" those choices which are actually only dictated by interests, by social roles as they are now, e.g. environment as "convenient".
