I keep thinking about how Hitler said, late in the war, that "the only way they could have stopped us was if they had come at us early, swift, and hard." Officialdom pussyfooted around and that was a big, big mistake.

US & UK purposely postponed opening the Western front for over a year while the Russian Army took the full brunt of Hitler (2.5M+ military casualties), opting instead for the less strategic No Af-Italian campaign to further weaken the Soviet Union, our ostensible ally. Shameless.
