Hello Marianne. In the practice of #yoga, both Pessimism &, believe it or not, #Optimism are discouraged, as these are seen as recipes for disillusionment. What’s instead suggested is Constructivism which point to better outcomes whilst bridging the gap between realities & truth.

Yes, if only because it's plainly immoral to give up in a struggle against gross injustice & evil: to give up hope of achieving justice & good is the first step in giving up the fight to vanquish injustice & evil.

A similar sentiment is in a hokey, comical movie with Tim Allen, who's character's refrain was: "Never give up! Never Surrender!" And guess what, Jesse Jackson himself said: "If you fall behind, run faster. Never give up, never surrender, and rise up against the odds."
