Mikhail Gorbachev was a visionary leader.
The refusal of the U.S. to help Russia when the Soviet Union collapsed was typical of America's arrogance and lack of visionary foreign policy.
If we had helped Gorbachev then, Russia's path would probably have not been toward a Putin.

Viet Nam, Iraq, Afghanistan. You don't see any problems there?
The US has also done some great things, but we're not going to get out of the quagmire we're in by denying the huge shadows and mistakes of our past.
The fact that we deny them is why too often we repeat them.
