We all need to listen to this. Very profound.
"It seems like we're hated. We're good people, we're just poor. We're not bad people just because we're poor but we get treated that way. I don't understand what happened to America," -Mondella Brown tells @JordanChariton on their uninhabitable living conditions in West Virginia

There is something, there is a lot that we can do as leaders that are called to be responsible ,respectful & caring for those in their jurisdiction with education, healthcare, jobs, accountability and census. Each idea in this list is a job creator. We have so much work to do.

The only people I hate are those who want to take my meager pay to give to others

this is heartbreaking, but hardly new. Is it noteworthy because they're white? I mean, Black and Latinx people have been saying the same thing for decades...?

American exceptionalism: the wealthiest country *except* for all the poor people. The freest country *except* for the world's largest prison population. . . etc. This could be a long list, so I'll just end it there.

I'm missing the point. Is it that there are poor white people in America or is it that being poor has a stigma that it never had before? Why is poor and white (in a system where there is no wealth WITHOUT poverty) a system failure but poor and Black is a failure to bootstrap it?

So so true. I live in a rural area and there are so many good people that just don’t have the help they need and are looked down on. Meanwhile there aren’t decent paying jobs nearby but they don’t want to move away from their family.

UBI, health care, education, child tax credits would be a good start.

This isn’t new. Poor people are treated badly because this country sees it as a morality issue.
