Our biggest problem isn't on the level of policy but of emotional desensitization. Too many Americans have distracted, amused or numbed themselves so much that they have no deep empathy - or sense of moral responsibility - toward those who suffer through no fault of their own

The "suffering through no fault of their own" comment kinda sounds like means testing human suffering. It's somewhat disconcerting to hear such puritanical uttering from the Goddess of Empathy.

The secret to effectiveness in today's world is producing a Netflix or Hulu documentary in whatever the issue is. Middle class Americans and up want to play the classicism game so desperately that if you commercialize their sense of entitlement, you will get through

Suffering itself can scarcely be identified. A generation of people triggered by everything has hijacked its meaning.

No concern expressed about the billions the US sends to Ukraine that we DON’T HAVE and the billions spent on illegal immigrants then complain about education not being fully funded for our citizens??? Make it make sense.

It is the result of Hollywood. All their movies are about power struggle in favor of the powerful, the rich, fictional heroes dress as policemen or army men.

Indeed. And the desensitization starts at our own dinner tables. People who have no compassion for animals will likely have none for humans as well. "As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields." -Leo Tolstoy

I did not cause their suffering therefore its not my responsibility to rectify their situation.
