I grew up in poverty in the mountains of NC. I ate out of a garden, lived in government housing, shopped at yard sales. I joined the Air Force. Earned my GI BILL. I attained 4 degrees and created my own version of the American Dream. I am not responsible for your student debt.

The GI Bill is the point! That was govt funding your education. So the rest of us DID pay for your education. FDR wanted it for everyone but the G.I. Bill for veterans was all he was able to get through Congress. It helped build a middle-class then and would help rebuild it now

You don’t know anything!!!! The GI Bill ended before I joined in 1978 and was replaced by a matching fund you had to pay into! And you make 25% of what you would make at the same job as a civilian and probably have a stinking Union also!! So get your facts straight lady!!!
If these college students want the money, they should enlist In the military or peace corps and serve at least two years to be eligible for loan forgiveness.

I paid for my college because it was cheap (1970s). But my children have crippling debt due to bad policies. We can fix it, starting with loan forgiveness- a gift like the GI bill!

The GI Bill is an incentive to motivate enlistment, offsetting the economic cost of not working in the private market for 6 to 20 years. It is an earned value, not a granted sum.

Soldiers earn that GI Bill with service!

The GI Bill does NOT fully fund education and it takes time and work just to jump through all the many hoops just to apply it. And ABSOLUTELY YES!! THAT IS THE BARE MINIMUM WE CAN DO FOR OUR VETERANS. HOW DARE YOU COMPLAIN with how abysmal the current support of our vets is.

And yet Biden couldn't bother with getting gender studies & liberal arts degrees thru congress ! Veterans volunteer and dedicate their lives to the country I'd say they earned their degrees and are upstanding citizens still giving and not taking

What an awful take. People often sign up for the military because of this benefit. If you want others to have a similar program, fine, but she did not get a gift for doing this, like you seem to imply.

Yes they got an education in return for putting their lives on the line defending our country . If you think student loan forgiveness is even remotely similar the help you need is above my pay grade .
