I grew up in poverty in the mountains of NC. I ate out of a garden, lived in government housing, shopped at yard sales. I joined the Air Force. Earned my GI BILL. I attained 4 degrees and created my own version of the American Dream. I am not responsible for your student debt.

The GI Bill is the point! That was govt funding your education. So the rest of us DID pay for your education. FDR wanted it for everyone but the G.I. Bill for veterans was all he was able to get through Congress. It helped build a middle-class then and would help rebuild it now

I EARNED & also paid into the GI Bill. It was deducted from my monthly pay. The pay for enlisted service members is minimal. It did not cover all of my education. My husband worked/paid for it. I did the same for him when he went to school. We worked to pay our college costs.

All we’re saying is that the payment should be minimal for everyone. That is how it used to be in this country, which built and maintained a middle class which has now been nearly destroyed.

The GI Bill is an earned benefit. The GI bill is not a handout. Soldiers work way more hours than our pay represents. You want that benefit, earn it.

You deserve it, yes, but so do others who also contribute and are doing what they can to have a chance at contributing more.

The US citizen is benefited by their service and in turn we the citizen give military people an education. It is a fair deal really. Your typical college student does not pay it back by doing the community a good service. Maybe there should be a program where they do?

I don’t think reframing the Greatest Generation as a bunch of freeloaders on the dole for college is going to get the traction you believe it will. Kind of like your last campaign.

Going through congress, how quaint and old fashioned. Tell me Marianne, did Biden go through congress?
People sacrificed YEARS of their lives to EARN the GI Bill benefits. What have students sacrificed? Bad comparison.
The GI paid with 4 or more years of service to this country, the lesbian dance degree holder paid nothing in return
No she paid it blood, sweat and tears! 🖕
