Canceling part is going to blow up in his face. It shows that he CAN cancel all of it but doesn’t care to do it. That will trigger more anger. He doesn’t really want to help people. 10k is a crack in the dam then. He’d be better served by getting in front of the whole thing.

The US federal govt can pay for anything it wants. The money people would save from canceling student debt would rejuvenate the economy. It would go a long way towards saving us from a politically chosen economic crash.

Canceling college loans will not necessarily land on only those that are actually in dire straits. Yep, there is an issue with giving billions of dollars of subsidies to mega corporations that don't need it. Since when do two wrongs make a right?

I feel like we are all screaming in the wind. American students were never supposed to take on debt like this. The government made this mess and they need to clean it up. Pretend it’s a toxic spill where you allowed companies to dump waste in our backyards. Clean it up!!

Why is school debt such a sacred cow…debt is debt to a budget. It took me 20yrs to pay off my measly loan for an AA degree which was really a zero net gain as far as pay. To be fair give everyone over 18 $50k to pay off whatever they want and close the bank. No more money period
