Fascism hasn't gotten a foothold in America due to an inherent desire for fascism. Fascism has gotten a foothold in America because democracy has failed to deliver. Many who say they believe in democracy the most have for 40 yrs stood idly by while far too many people suffered.

Exactly. Read a whole article in @politico yesterday about Democratic elites condemning the people for not caring more about democracy while not once considering that their decades-long failure to deliver for the working class had caused people to lose hope.

The U.S. has always embraced fascist ideologies and when they tried to correct it, they allowed the fascists to stay and receive reparations for losing the war. Those fascists then built their wealth, while destroying the wealth of others, using the police as protection.
