The reason they don't want to cancel the college loan debt, give universal health care or near free college tuition has little to do with economics. They don't want to do them because it would empower people... and empowering people would undercut the corporatist establishment

Nothing empowering about saving people from experiencing the implications of their decisions. It’s actually disempowering, it will increase tuition costs, and will infuriate millions of blue collar workers out there who went straight to work after high-school

This is simply true. If it was about economics, they'd be reining in spending somewhere. But, they spend it everywhere except to help the poor and middle classes.
