For “fare evasion????” I’m not even mad, I just want to cry. What cruelty & barbarism we’re accepting as normal. Anyone who doesn’t think that these are the precedents of a police state doesn’t understand what a police state is. And we’re being asked to fund more of this…?

A law was broken, therefore a crime committed, and a patriotic citizen felt the need to assist officers due to that crime. That sounds like a great America to me. No crime, no problem, follow the law

most of the comments below are an amazing socio-political statement about how low our republic has sunk in terms of shared humanitarian values. surprised, as usual. Thanks Marianne!

The guy was trying to knee the cop in the head which is why the passerby intervened. If someone refuses to pay, is caught, and refuses to exit willingly, what choice do the cops have but to forcibly remove them?

I’m guessing Marianne has never had to wrestle to apprehend someone breaking the law who then resists being apprehended

Police must demonstrate respect of those who EMPLOY them (the people), not those who assign them and condone their unlawful behaviors. Each jurisdiction should install citizen counsels of police review and prosecution. Vote blue in 2022, to enforce the George Floyd Policing Act.
