Does anyone have any personal memories of watching Nixon's resignation, this week 1974? How did you personally react to the news?

I do. I watched it on TV. I felt sorry for him as a person but glad for my country that he had been forced out. I think Ford’s pardoning Nixon was a big mistake. We’re paying for it even now.

I was camping at the beach for a few days and hadn’t followed the news. We turned on the radio and heard that our country had a new president. I felt like a large weight was lifted off my shoulders. I keep waiting to have that feeling again!

You felt sorry for him as a person? Wow. He brought it all on himself. History will show Ford was right.

Huge mistake. We are a nation of laws, in theory.

I agree about Ford's pardon. I was pissed.

I do. Basically agree with the first half of this take. I initially thought the pardon was a bad move. Over time, I grew to understand it more and thought it merited the Profiles in Courage award President Ford received for doing it.
Ford should have made Nixon admit what he had done.

Does it now annoy you that we are doing China’s bidding because we have a President and his son who have financially profited off of this arrangement?
Nixon’s plumbers were in Dallas. Barnard Barker carried a USSS badge, identified on the Grassy Knoll. Beschloss thinks Ford had good intentions. Ford doctored evidential drawings for Warren and was Hoover’s informant. The pardon was more like quid pro quo for Nixon to go quietly.
