Can anyone tell me why @SpeakerPelosi went to Taiwan and got the Chinese all worked up? Anyone?

Who cares? If the Chinese are all worked up it's because they chose to be mad. I don't get mad when France visits Portugal.

flip that around. why do the Chinese govt. have to get all worked up over someone visiting a completely different country?

Why do you want Nancy Pelosi to do what China tells her to do?

US is prepping to bring Iron Dome and our Aegis SA6 anti missile systems to Taiwan, SKorea, and Japan to augment Guam, HI, and west coast, and Navy Aegis systems already in place. Neutralizing for the most part China or NKorean ICBM threats.

Biden quietly asked her to go because China has been raising the temperature. It's a good cop bad cop strategy to get clarity in a negotiation also it's a fundraising trip.

Taiwan has >50% of global chip market, making it uber important. Is a progressive democracy (the ONLY country to allow gay marriage in Asia). Managed Covid with effective approaches but isn’t allowed on WHO. Is a staunch US ally, yet ANY US visit creates huge CCP push back. 🤔

Money at the cost of the lives of others while using tax payer money as is her MO. For real issues she’ll sing songs, read poems or kneel, but mostly she’ll pass tech legislation that will make her millions instead of dealing with—I don’t know—Gerrymandering. #primarypelosi

Ooh was it to provoke violent retaliation by the Chinese against Taiwan, disrupting their chip production and boosting the value of her own US-based microchip investments? Because that's 100% it

Imperialism. Think back to Obama's "Pivot to Asia". What you have is two competing empires, one on the rise, and the other on the decline, and the latter sees war as the only option to prevent the rise of the former.

Guessing her visit has a lot to do with protecting US interests in microchips with passing of #CHIPSAct.
Having worked at NVIDIA and been to Taiwan + TSMC, guessing passing of #CHIPSAct has a lot to do with her visit. She met with the Chairman of TSMC which has 56% of the global semiconductor market. TSMC top customers include Apple, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, AMD. washingtonpost.com/technolog…
